Skip
I do not know what you mean about the 43 degrees.
The engine sits on its side in both GM and other buses using the sideways mount Detroit V engines.
The fan drive from a 6V71 in a GM Trasit will bolt right up to the 6V92 and uses a spin on filter. I used the auto drive model but later pluged the oil return line. Pictures can be found in the transit manuals.

Skip, I know what you mean. I was able to get a picture from Frank Rowe, I will forward you one. I hope he doesn't mind. My DD parts guy has been able to find all the part numbers if I wanted to buy all the parts new. I've found that the 8V71 fluid drive will also work. I'm working on finding a direct drive for my setup. How did you get the starter to fit? It looks like I have to totally replace the oil cooler to get enough room to mount mine.

Bob I am looking forward to the picture How did you forward it. I started with a
RTS 6v92 so i had to change the bell housing which put the starter on the side of the oil cooler so I got a oil cooler off a flex then that cooler has no place for the oil filter so i had to change the front cover to a flex or can use the 8/71 that sits on 43 tilt which has oil filter that hangs off it then i had to change the front water pump housing to get the motor mount to fit I should have started with a 6/92 out of a flex and would have saved lots of $ and time Skip

Skip, True, the flx donor would be the easiest for a repower to a GM. I guess it depends on what is available, in what condition in your area. In my case, 1. I didn't know about the RTS problems, 2. in hindsite, I can't find any flx stuff or info in my area. I see the busses once in a long while and the phone numbers I was given(by our highly organized and efficient, tax funded) metro transit co are "out of service" when I try to call. The local DD parts guy has no contact within the company. Even if I got in, based on my experience so far, who knows what I'd find. I'd factored in some puzzles and so far I'm on budget. But, I'm not done yet.

So where did you find the oil cooler? Bob
