I have a problem. I have a 1968 MC5A with an 8V71 and a 4speed Spicer. My clutch wouldn't pull a sick wh---e off a pi--pot.

I've know that it's a 17" clutch (push to release) and I'm anticipating sending it to the Bus shop in the hope that I can get a new million mile clutch. (RJ, I know how to shift one of these rascals)

No one seems to build a 17" twin disk clutch replacement. Not Eaton/Fuller, not Spicer, not anyone. I'd like, considering the cost of pulling the engine, to go with a NEW clutch...Twin disc
variety.

Any info would be appreciated.

HI Bob & Folks:

Bob, you have a twin disc (15" clutch assy), not 17"!!!

I do not know whether they are available New, as most new coach production has been "Automatic" for many years now.

We do, however, stock rebuilt clutch assemblies for your coach!!!

Hello Bob.

Changing a clutch on these things isn't that huge a job. Bus companies had to do it all the time, sometimes twice in the same week!

(Insert some commentary here about the sad state of training in the bus industry here, fueled by the money being too easy to make versus the trucking industry)

Be sure you are equipped with all the short cut tricks to speed the job for your rig, Bob!!!

I just paid $640.00 for new plate on the flywheel regrind center plate new disk(2) and pressure plate and new pilot bearing and bearing for the pressure plate. Phone # for the place is 562-921-9919 This is a hard to find setup.

Larry, what was the diameter of your clutch and was it push to disengage or pull to disengage?

Luke, according to Da Book, you're right...it's supposed to be a 15" push type Twing Disk.

The guy I bought the bus from swears it's a 17" single disk. But then he lied to me about everything else in connection with the bus.

He told me that he spent a lot of money on the coach air system. I started removing it yesterday and have come to the conclusion that the last time it worked..Noah threw the switch!

Mine is a 15" push type 2 disk. The dia. of the gear is 17-1/4" and that will help you ID the bell housing.
