How straight is straight? The first day it got nice and hot out a hump appeared on the side at the skirt right in front of the drive wheel well. It feels like the outer most skin only because it's easy to push down. I'm hoping this is just some heat deformation and not a symptom of some structural problem. The skirt rail was scraped at some point here too. Maybe it was deformation due to that. Any thoughts? Hank 96A3 |

Most buses were painted white from the factory. White does not get as hot as a darker color paint. So when you paint a white bus with a dark color it collects more heat and expands the metal more than the white painted metal. hence: warped skin. To stop this problem the base coat should be CERAMIC COAT to .030 thick dry to stop the heat from getting to the metal. Then top coated with your choice of color and no expanded warped skin. |
