As I understand it, the very last digit indicates the last digit of the year of manufacture. Could be 1998, could be 1988. However, if there is the little triangle thingy next to it, then 1998 it is. If no triangle is present, could be '88 or '98. To see what triangle thingy I am talking about, look at the board postings a few days ago and scroll down to the post about the tire blow-outs. Follow the imbedded link to the video for "Things every RV'er should know". About 2 minutes into the video there is a discussion of the DOT coding. Incidentally, from the DOT code, the letters "MC" indicate your tires were produced at Goodyear's Danville Plant, a building I have been inside several times this past year. |

Thanks guys, I couldn't find any triangle thingy, but I'm going to replace these tires next week. I'm going to move my 5 year old steer tires to the bogies and put new tires on the front. My steers are my oldest tires since I replaced them first back in 2001 when I started driving the bus. These bogies were on the coach in 1999 when it was auctioned off. I bought her in May 2000. They have no cracking, but the tread wear bars are showing. It's time to retire them. (no pun intended. LOL) David |
