I live in Michigan, and would like to install a block heater on my 6V92t. What's good and where can I find one. Thanks for the info. |

Hi Steve, I have wanted to come back over and look at your MC9. I bought an Eagle. How is your conversion coming along? How's Herb doing? |

Bob, My project is doing great. We submitted our 85% appraisal package to the insurance company earlier this month. We went over to see Herb's coach two weeks ago and he is off to a good start. Send me an email at stevenog@aol.com and I can provide more details and we can try and get together. I'd love to see an Eagle up close. Steve |

Do you have the Detroit Diesel catalog number for the 6v92TA Engine Block Heater. Is it easy & straight forward to install? Would be a nice thing to add while doing a conversion. Have it hard wired to a wall switch capable of handling the amperage. |

There are many campgrounds out there with only a 15A power supply . You might contemplate using the unit as it comes , with an external socket. And in a pinch plug into two boxes. That way you can have the block heater running and still have power to use in the coach. FAST FRED |

That is a good thought Fred. I get the Trailer Life Campground Directory & review what campground I would be stopping in. In the book they tell you what the electrical set up is for each campground. So many 50amps, 30 amps etc. If some of you have not seen the book, goto the next RV Show in your area & get a look at the book. Nice place to see some new ideas too for conversion ideas. As far as a block heater might find a way to have it on a pig tail as well as hard wired. |

Jeff, how about making a check of campgrounds that only have 15 amp service. In my 30 years of camping I have never run into any campground with less than 30 amp service. I am sure there are maybe a few with only 15 amp service, but I believe they are few and far between and with your book, it would be easy to avoid them. I think FF must really go back in the boonies in New England to find them. Different strokes for different folks. Richard |

There are Provincial Parks with only 20 Amps service. Algonquin Park in Ontario has huge sites but limited electic power. Who needs it with all that beauty. My coach has gone 20 years with the engine heater plugged into an outlet in the engine compartment. Still works fine and as Fast Fred Suggested, it could be unplugged and run to a separate outlet if necessary. My battery chargers and now my inverter were also plugged in. I like the idea. |
