My 6v92 has a puraDYN Purifiner bypass oil filtration system installed. The advertised purpose of this devise is to extend oil life beyond normal service specifications amongst other things. I believe that oil changes are to occur every 3-5,000 miles on DD's depending on service use.
So the question is with this device installed and oil samples taken, with passing results should the normal(Fleetguard etc) engine oil filter be replaced at the recommend intervals regardless.
Also what kind of results has anyone seen using this system.

Thanks

I think the oil change recommendation on my series 60 is 10,000 to 12,000 miles. I change it more frequently and get it tested eacy time since I frequent dusty areas (the desert).

Even without the special filters, I believe truckers regularaly test their oil and change it when it actually needs it. Due to the size of the oil pans, its economic to test rather than just change it (as it is still best to do for your car)

Old wifes tales never die....The major problem with oil is fuel soot...above five microns it is an abrasive...it clumps together around 10 microns....all full flow filters are only good above 10 microns...the major job of the additive package is to entrap fuel soot and keep it in suspension...the major reason for a bypass filter is to stop and trap fuel soot...for this reason have been running them since 1978..
