My part arrived shortly after lunch today from US Coach. I installed the new reverse solenoid and I'm good to go. It wasn't as hard as I envisioned it would be installing the new one. I put it in, tested the switch with the help of my wife, then started the bus and tried it out successfully. Again, thanks to Luke and his mechanic Bill for helping me out with this situation. It's nice to know help is only a phone call away! |

Gus, Not sure yet...something inside wasn't workin'! Power was good all the way to the connection at the back of the solenoid. I'm hoping to take it apart in the early part of next week to see if I can determine what failed. I'll post it and let you know. What I do know is that I'm good to go now! Take care, have a great weekend! |

Tim, Sometimes windings in coils and motor/generators just have a broken wire where it goes through the case. If so, at least you have a good spare. My 4104 sometimes hangs up trying to get into Reverse but I think it is a gear/clutch problem, not the solenoid. |

Remember that in a pinch, the reverse function can be done manually. Use a hammer handle or piece of 2 X 4 wood to engage it. Hand- held radios for communication with the "pusher" make it safer. A pain in the rear, but do-able, with the right coach. GMC V-drives are the easiest, while most MCI's are near impossible. For emergency use only...JJ |
