I usually shop NAPA. The local store is usually cheaper than Walmart and there are 3 times as many NAPA stores as Walmart. There is only one Walmart within 30 miles of me and at least 6 NAPA. Their warranty is good at any store. Ed |

I'm not too keen on NAPA batteries anymore. The NAPA dealers around here will refuse to honor the warranty of a NAPA battery bought at any store but their own. I bought a 60 month battery for my GMC van from a NAPA dealer in north GA, not far from here. While on a trip to south FL a couple of months later, I began having trouble with the battery not wanting to hold a charge in hot weather. A NAPA dealer in FL exchanged it without any problem, and all was fine for a while. When that battery started having cold weather start trouble after 8 months, I tried taking it first to the north GA NAPA dealer, then a western NC NAPA dealer. Both told me I would have to take it back to the store I bought it from for warranty. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a new battery, and will not ever buy another NAPA battery again. That was over 3 years ago and the Wal-Mart battery is still going strong. Bob |

Will NAPA let you stay overnight in their parking lot? Most Walmarts do. Their batteries are great. Two year replacement guarantee, with no questions asked after purchase! Most of us are using group 31 batteries. Gotta' love Walmart! |

Good point John I am running 4 of the Wal-Mart (EverStart) Maxx-29 Marine/RV batteries in series/parallel for my 24V (center tapped for 12V of course) bus start battery bank. I also use these same batteries for my solar power battery bank at home. While they only carry an 18 month free replacement warranty period, they have held up very well in extreme duty use so far. If I ever do have any that have a problem, Wal-Mart exchanges them out with no problem. I had a couple that had a slight acid leak around the terminals show up within the first month of use and they swapped them right out, no problem. When I install the solar arrays on my bus, I intend to use a bank of 16 more of them for the 48V inverter battery bank that will be my primary power source. Not only easy replacement from Wal-Mart, but they are open when you need a batt. The batteries are probably made by a major company and sold to Wally World under a different name. I do know that some of the Wal-Mart brand oil is Valvoline. The reason for a hard return to NAPA is some of them are individually owned. We have 2 stores near us. one has some what lower prices while the other one has to sell their parts at the price NAPA dictates. An easy way to tell the diference is the store name. A NAPA owned store will only have the NAPA name and NAPA parts, were another store will have a different name such as Standard Auto Parts. They have a deal with NAPA to sell their parts and agree to play by NAPA's rules in exchange they get a deal on parts inventory. |
