It works..It works..It works!! Thanks to everyone that responded to my posts about my starter problems. I took the starter off and cleaned all of the connections real good and the battery cable ends too. I put it back on and the motor turned right over and started! That's the first time that motor has run since I bought it from Bill Jowet in K.C,Mo. last summer. Now here is a situation. I have a siezed up 8v71 sitting in my yard. My plan is to take it to the scrap metal yard. The alternater, starter, power steering pump have been removed and put back on the replacement motor. Is there anything else on this block that might be worth keeping for spare parts? I still have a few things to do to get her road ready but at least she runs now. Thanks to everyone. Great board Ian!!! Steve '77amg |

Wow, nice looking bus! That looks great. I agree with Bob on the parts. Knowing me, I would strip the manifolds, inspection covers, and whatever else was loose "just in case". |

The motor had overheated and siezed up and I didn't know if there would be anything worth keeping. Craig, Thanks you have a sharp looking bus too. Steve77amg |

I really wouldn't throw anything away if you have a place to hide it,would imagine from your description the block is still good & a million other parts, hide it behind the garage & tarp it good & weight tarp down with heavy bricks or something |

The most efficient "storage" package is the assembled engine. Just seal off the intake and exhaust. Is it still "seized" up. Sometimes, after they cool they'll free up. (Not to say it's runnable, just whether it's frozen) Some indication as to the overall condition of the engine. |

Burgermeister, That engine is frozen solid. I tried to turn it with a big wrench and a six foot cheater pipe and it would not budge. |
