Have any of you used the combo generator/welders mfg by "Miller"? As an Insurance Adjuster, I have seen many of them that people bought to run their houses after hurricanes, but unfortunately, never got to hear one of them running. I went onto Miller's website, and it appears that their most popular model is an approximate 10KW in either diesel or gas/lp. Specs show that they run at 3600 RPM which is about twice what my Onan runs (although it is a 7KW). Are these things noisy? They run Kubota 19HP diesel and 22 HP gas/lp. If they are noisy, can they be quieted with mufflers system, etc? Only reason I ask this is that the pricing new is lower than Onans, etc of same power rating. Also it would make sense that they are pretty heavy duty since they are being used for commercial applications. Any thoughts you may have?? |

Generators that spin at 3600 are never going to be quiet enough. You want to head towards an 1800 rpm unit, preferably diesel so you can take advantage of your available fuel. They're a little more money, but worth it. Phil in Az |
