MCI-9, with 8v92. Could an over-filled crankcase,(way over the full on the dipstick), cause the engine to blow out oil from the exhaust? Oil on the exhaust side of the turbo first lead me to think the seal in the turbo was gone, which still could be the case but before I pull the turbo, I thought I would ask.

Just got the bus and previous owner must have overfilled the oil.
Thanks, Iver.

couple of possibilities.....cracked injector line and excess oil is actually fuel; prev. owner might have over filled it to make sure it didn't run out of oil on your trip because it is using a lot of oil from bad rings or bad turbo seal wrong weight oil, etc. Maybe he didn't know the proper way to check the oil. Unless the oil is getting fuel oil in it, I would drain enough oil to get it to the full mark and see if it stops blowing oil, which will take 10 to 25 miles to clean the excess out of the exhaust and run clean.Hos is the oil pressure at hot idle?

Overfilling the oil is easy, if the owner didn't allow enough time
for the oil to drain down after running it.... It'll look like it's
a gallon or more low!

I posted a copy of the section of MCI manual that dictates the
correct level of oil.

Chuck MC8 also posted MCI's reference to the level of
oil being correct, when it is 1" below the oil pan gasket.

Removing the dipstick, holding it aside the tube, and marking
where the 1" point is below the gasket, should give the proper
level marking for future reference.

(egads, I gotta' do that!)

MC-Iv-

Check out the paper towel test in the thread "Fuel Oil in Oil Pan" to see if it really is over-filled or if you're getting diesel in the oil.
