i am going to pick up my "new" 4104 on the 22nd,and need you guys opinion on the better route. i live in asheville nc, and will be going to bradenton fl(just south of tampa).which is th e better route;i26 to i95 to i10 to i75, or i26 to i85(in ATL)to i75.when i mapped it ,the distance is about the same.i was just wondering if 85 to 75 might be a better ride(literally).i can't remember, i haven't been through Ga. in a few yrs.all opinions are appreciated!

Christopher, I have been that way many times and to be honest, it's not that bad. Once in a while you get a small town with a light or two but other than that, it's a breeze and a time saver to boot! Just be careful going thru those small towns. They like to write tickets for speeding!

By cutting the corner you save a bunch of miles - the route is about the same time wise - but you save mucho dinero on fuel - Ace is right 'obey the speed limit' in town - they're well marked cause the state came down on them for ticking off the tourists

I-95 South to Daytona, I-4 West to I-75 (tampa)
I-275 South around Tampa to Bradenton.

Plan on getting through any large Metro areas before 5:00 a.m....

Why would anyone want to cross the State twice using I-10 ( no mans land )???

Chris, I always prefer to take the I-75 route when going to the western coast of FL from where we are. Just doesn't make a lot of sense to criss-cross up in NC/GA and again in FL.

Christopher,
My reason for not doing the 75-85 route is to stay out of Atlanta.
No matter what you do, go straight through town or go around the bypass it is a PITA.

I'd much rather do the 95 route anytime.

IHTH

Gotta agree with Niles on this...after trying every possible route for years hauling Proline and Wellcraft boats (Crystal River and Bradenton), I 95 to 301 was the best I could do. I'd do I-77 to I-26 to I-95. Asheville would be less complicated...I-26 to I-95.
Didn't use I-10 out of Jax though..took A1A just after crossing the Fla state line and it ran into 301 in Callahan...or something like that. Drove right down the center of the state until got close to I-75 for Bradenton. From Charlotte, I could be in Jax in about the same amount of time required to get thru Atlanta. If you time your bus-fetching trip just right, you could plan on stopping by the TIMMONSVILLE,SC Rally on Oct 5th-9th with your bus on your return trip! This is near Florence right off I-95....lot of interstates nearby to get you back to Asheville quickly (I-20).
Looks like Arcadia would be best via Orlando...and head South??
My dos centavos...JR

I like JR's route thats the one weve taken for about 20 years but we jump off 301 north of Ocala and get on 75 south. SR 326 takes you right to 75 just north of Ocala. Good luck on the new 04

Chris, feel free to attend Timmonsville without your coach if for some reason bringing the bus becomes difficult. There are motels nearby. Bringing the bus would be cool though! "Steel tent" camping is welcomed!
You'll get to peruse most of the coaches there. I can show you a "low budget" conversion...! You'll get lots of ideas from others, more or less, completed conversions.
David's suggesting getting onto I-75 from 301 near Ocala works best. I-75 is just a few miles from 301 near Ocala. Coming back you won't be in any hurry anyway...hope you find your trip enjoyable!
The Timmonsville info has been posted by Dallas as followup to you inquiry.
David, is that the "Mighty Moe" bus? Looks like it may be?
See ya, JR

John MC9 That's what happens when you listen to Microsoft. He'll get you going backwards or forwards. I just sent 2006 with GPS back because co-ordinates were always incorrect.

Rod -

Haven't tried the '06 with the Garmin yet..... and with the Street Pilot,
I may never have to... The map data seemed OK to me, tho...

I like the program for it's ease in adding CSV files.... Having
a map of "low bridges", Walmart stores, or other convenient
landmarks, made it a worthwhile purchase for me...

David -

Glad youse liked the pix!

(I miss Northport and Fort Salonga!)

If I ever win the mega-bucks, I'll move back!
