Unless you plan to be in areas where there is no cell service, you may consider using broadband from one of the cell providers. It'd be just as fast or faster, no delay, no set up, cost about the same, equipment MUCH cheaper, and will work going down the road as long as you have a cell signal...which is almost everywhere these days. Oh yeah...and one bill. Jay 87 SaftLiner |

Hello David. Dustyfoot.com is a busnut with a variety of options for satelite computing. Some other users of that equipment on here periodically, too, I think. happy coaching! buswarrior |

david, sprint has a mobile broadband card that is now available runs $ 50.00 a month, and it works everywhere that sprint pcs phones work(i have had sprint for over 3 yrs,and get service just about anywhere i have been,99.99%).this would be your cheapest route as long as you already have a laptop or notebook. |

I use the Sprint/Nextel PCS card, $59/mon and great speed. I'm currently traveling all over the US (in Idaho) now and haven't had any problems with it! |

If you're using more then one PC, there is also a router WIFI that you put your sim card in & all the pc/laptop can go on line at the same time. http://sewelldirect.com/3g-phoebus-cellular-wi-fi-router.asp wrench |

David, once you have done it a couple of times, set up only takes about 15 minutes and is easy. If you will be travelling where there is no cell signal it is worth the time. A self deploying system costs three to four thosand dollars more and cannot be moved to aim around trees. |

Sorry if this is a dumb question... Is cellular broad-band really faster than Satellite TV internet? If so, that's the thing I need on my bus. Upload speed is the most important, and least addressed issue with all the different providers. |

Bob, In some major cities you can get 3Meg service on cellular plans. Most of the country will be a lot slower, but it will work in motion. Satellite will work anywhere you can see the satellite with you dish, anywhere, but generally, only when you are stopped. Most plans on satellite will give you about 798 kbps download and 128 kbps upload, occasionally faster or slower on upload. You can pay for higher speed on satellite, if I remember correctly up to 2 Mbps download and up to 798 kbps upload for over $200 per month. Might be worth it if you save a lot by camping in the boonies and need it for business. |

Thanks Stephen! 3 Meg on cellular sounds great! I'm guessing that the future will see that speed in more and more areas too. |
