I have no idea how you have things hooked up,there is about a million ways to hook up systems, I have two separate systems on my Eagle. the orig. alternator takes care of the start batteries. I have another alt. mounted on the normaly empty shiv on the front of the engine that charges the house batteries going down the road, and the converter ,inside the coach charges the house batteries while I'm hooked to power pole/city elec.the alt. I have on the shiv is just a normal chevrolet,28.00 alt., available at any parts store like autozone/pep boys.everything works wonderful. |

I have a continuous duty solenoid in my coach battery bay that is energized when the key is on. I have a length of 4-0 cable from that solenoid to the battery side of the master disconnect for the house batteries. The effect of that is that, when the key is on, the house batteries and the coach batteries are tied together. That gives me the coach batteries for additional starting power and charges the house batteries when we are on the road. |

RJ, I have the same setup on my 4104, only manual. I have wondered if the house batteries (Deep Cycle) are harmed when starting, especially in cold weather when it may crank a few times more than normal? I've been disconnecting the house for such starts and then connecting them for charging. I'm also thinking of hooking up a solenoid like yours except on a separate switch. |

Get that electric Heater off the Inverter...! It's probably causing the D.C. Amp load on the inverter to be in the hundreds of amps. No wonder the bus alternator won't keep it charged... Good Grief.... Did anyone else catch that one??? If you need 5,000 btu heat get a heater buddy!! |

Tony, if you've been running both the heater and refrigerator off of your inverter, you're going to have trouble keeping the house batteries up unless you take precautions. A TV, by itself, is enough to get you into trouble if you don't know how to use the house system. Is there any intertie between the systems? If there is, it needs to be done right if it is to handle the currents involved. For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher Ketchikan, Alaska |
