Caution! I had thought about putting a slide-out room in my eagle model 20 untill I talked to HWH. For starters, they (HWH) will only sell to a select few companys- Namely, Morrison company in Northern California. Morrison company, basically, say that both B&B coach in Las Vegas (who do slide-outs) and Dailey's book on slide-our rooms are wrong. Morrison company, say that unless structural integity is built back into the space below where the opening was cut (in the cargo bay) the coach may "most likely will" fail structually? Based on that I have decided that a slide-out room is not worth the cost. Does anyone else have a different opinion? |

I'm certainly not an expert on Eagles, and have only looked at a couple of 20's, however, as for the 15's and down, the sidewalls are not structural members of the bus, which is one of the reasons they are so popular for converting. I am familiar w/several that have slideouts, up to 3'x20', that have been going for several yrs. Yes, some support needs to be provided for the load bearing of the slide unit but the ones I have seen did not involve some massive undertaking underneath. Naturally, in their own economic interest, some company involved in building them is going to maximize the job. Not saying they are going to inflate the job, but they certainly can't be expected to minimize the job. |

Whatever happened to the gentleman with the Fold-Out rooms? It sure looked easy enough, did not increase the weight that much so supporting the Fold-Out should have been quite inexpensive to install. anyone hear from this guy? |
