For those who are interested in a different type unit, take a look at this Thomas. It drives like a dream and has more get-up-and-go (Cummins 6BTA 230 hp) than the MC-8 I had (with 8V-71). Top speed is 70 mph. Different strokes for different folks. http://photos.yahoo.com/dervatl |

Not a darn thing wrong with a Thomas ! Saw one they took about 10ft. out of the middle got the wheel base down to about 14 1/2 ft and could get off the Interstates, They used backroads, State parks Etc. places these Interstate crusiers aren't intereasted in (parking lots at a MOTEL). It was 30 ft. of class A !!! Just My Humble Thoughts & Visions Ole Pokey |

Just a minor point of correction---that is a ThomasBuilt bus. One of three major school bus manufcturers in the US. It was probably made at the High Point, NC factory. They are a major employer and a source of great pride for the Piedmont Triad area. From a former 'heel, Bill |

Great looking bus! I suppose if you can't have a Crown or Gillig, a Thomas is a good second choice. Happy trails! Mark O. |

Being from the Motor City, I won't go into the Daimler part - ooh it stings - but many of the Thomas buses North of Dixie come down from Canada. Most of the ones in Michigan are yellow with black stripes so it does a body good to see one used outside a school! |

Here at Kennedy Space Center, NASA has several Thomas-Bilt buses which are used for VIP tours. These would make excellent conversion shells, as they have a mid-door, not a front one. I do not know what engine they have, but it is a rear engine diesel. I have been told that parts for the A/C are no longer available, so perhaps they will be auctioned in the near future. Ol' |
