In a thread at http://www.busnut.com/bbs/messages/233/2988.html I found this; "6V92TA which can be boosted to 350 hp with a turbo and injector change" Can anyone tell me what turbo and injectors I would need in order to make this change please.

a 6v92ta should already be at 350 hp.That engine configuration is 300 hp if it is a 6v92tta.

DDEC or MUI?

MUI
9G90 injectors
1.466 injector timing
.636 throttle delay
.480 fuel modulator setting
TV-7511 turbo
1.08 A/R (arc radius)

Truck engines are slightly diferent:
9G90 injectors
1.480 injector timing
.454 fuel modulator
TV 7512 turbo
1.23 A/R

DDEC Truck
5234775 injectors
1.520 injector timing
TV-7512 turbo
1.23 A/R

DDEC coach HP ratings only go as high as 330 for coaches in my book, dated Oct, 1988.
Someone will probably post different figures, they usually do.

If it is a stock " Coach " Engine "FEDeral" most of the MUI ( Mechanical Injection )were setup for 277 hp. ( most including transits unless ordered with the higher HP engines ). The CAL engines were different ( California )...Dunno there...

A DDEC engine can be turned up on power a little but a turbo change, injector change and computer reprogram would probably be needed.

MUI would need the turbo, timing and Injector change only.

Mine is a 1985 6AV92TA which I am pretty sure would not be a DDEC so should I look at:

9G90 injectors
1.466 injector timing
.636 throttle delay
.480 fuel modulator setting
TV-7511 turbo
1.08 A/R (arc radius)

and if so what would the HP increase be?

my 1980 Eagle 10 has a 6v92TA 350HP motor(MUI) and has the specs mentioned above. a tad slow off the line, but breathes well in the higher altitudes, and has never even thought about overheating on me. ive taken a lot of mountains here in CA(oregon and washington, too)and it has nver smoked on me(provided i downshift and keep my fott out of it)

In addition to the 9G90's and TV7511 turbo you will need to have federal cams, the 1.05" cylinder ports and 2.05:1 blower drive to get a true 350HP.Without those items it may not support the big injectors, and may smoke. The TV7511 with a .95A/R seems to work just fine. This is the most common tubo on 6V-92's.

The mechanic that did my 1987 6V92ta set everything as follows:

Same as the truck engines: Reason he stated was DD always uses the low side for all adjustments.

9G90 injectors
1.480 injector timing
.454 fuel modulator
TV 7512 turbo
1.23 A/R

On take off it is slow until you reach about 5MPH and the turbo spins up. No smoke what so ever. Very well pleased with this set up.

This mechanic was with DD for years and now is with Prevost.
