Hi folks, After having not looked at my email since December 16th, I thought I'd spend some time at my computer on this first day of 2007... Speaking of email, as you can see, I waded through quite a bit of it. 10,444 emails in the trash - yes, most of it was spam but it did take awhile to sort through to the good stuff! Counting emails today made me think about my annual report on the numbers here at BNO, so for those of you who like statistics, here's some pretty amazing numbers to contemplate: I'll start with viewership... You're all still coming here at about the same level of interest as usual. We received 17,409,607 "hits" in 2006 which extrapolates to about 3,700 viewers each day - that 3,700 is the number of different IP addresses that surf here, so several can be from the same person coming here multiple times a day (and for what reason, I'll never know - like don't you have a life?) (clearly, I don't have a life either, so welcome to THAT hobby, too!) Our guestbook continues to grow. 1,901 people have signed our guestbook, again with several people signing multiple times. About 5 years after getting the guestbook online here, I stopped taking inventory of where people were from because there was one from every State and Province in North America and today, our guestbook is graced with signatories from 103 countries throughout the world. Our hobby stretches far and wide and we're so very pleased to see guests sign our virtual book. From everywhere, thank you everyone! October was our busiest month with over 1.8 million hits and over 132,000 individual visits! Statistically, that was an average of 2,400 hits an hour and our best day gave us 5,691 viewers! What happened? No sports on that day??? DieselChat has slipped down the list, forfeiting itself as the busiest spot on the site. We realize that these things are cyclical, so no worries. If you've seen who was in the chat room, you'll see that most made their way to the bulletin board, the most popular place on the site. Of the top 30 destinations on our 256 page web site, 36% of our traffic views the bulletin board each day. 3-1/2% or 199 of you look at the "Profiles" on a daily basis. Anyone feeling stalked lately! Our bulletin board, BNO BBS, has 1,326 registered users and serves over 1,000 emails automatically to our viewers for each message left on our board. Our home page and the "For Sale" section get the next most traffic. This is startling - 99.5% of our traffic comes directly to this web site without being referred here by another site! 90,000 of you came here from other sites and search engines last year. Of those who search to get here, the following are the top dozen search engines: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Google (Images), AltaVista, Ask Jeeves, Dogpile, Earth Link, Excite, AllTheWeb, AOL and Netscape. And these are the top dozen search strings in decending order of popularity: bus nuts, bus nut, bus conversion, bno, busnut, bno bbs, bus nut online, busnut.com, school bus conversions, bus conversions, buses for sale and bus nuts online. Funny, no "sportscar of buses" :-) The top operating systems used in your computers are Windows at 92.1%, Macintosh at 2.3%, Linux at 1.7% and WebTV at 0.1%. Although I still create BNO on Netscape with HotDog Pro web editor software, a staggering 81.7% of you still use Internet Explorer to view it. I'm not offended. Other browsers you own are Firefox at 10.5%, Netscape at 2.1%, Safari at 1.6%, Mozilla at 0.8%, Opera at 0.5%, WebTV browser at 0.1% and Konqueror at less than 0.1%. WebTV and AOL... omigawd!! 27.9% of you added BNO to your "Favorites" list. Thanks!! And the last question answered here is just how long did you spend at BNO last year? Well, 695,870 of you spent less than 30 seconds here. 113,722 of you spent 30 seconds to 2 minutes here. Another 112,368 people viewed the site for 2 minutes to 5 minutes. There were 247,751 of you who stayed 5 to 30 minutes plus another 105,599 who were here for 30 minutes to an hour. And the biggest losers of all-time are the 74,460 people out there who had nothing better to do with their lives than to hang out for over an hour at BNO. I love you guys!! Happy New Year to all of you!! Thank you all for your continued support of BNO. I never get tired of saying that, without all of you, this site would be nothing. Truly, there is no one more cognizant of that fact and why I keep trying to keep this site fresh and current. This is our 10th anniversary year and I could never have imagined having spent this amount of time with such great friends. Some have left the site and some remain; some we have lost forever. Nothing is forever, folks, and I need you to know that the time I have been able to spend with you over the years has made me truly blessed. Thank you. Have a wonderful 2007. Ian www.busnut.com |

Ian, For a lot of us, the BNO is the heart of the Internet. If we're not outside looking at our bus, we're inside on the Board. Frankly, I think mere words are not enough to express how grateful we are for the lifeblood of our obsession. "Thank you!" doesn't seem to be adequate, for it leaves out too much feeling. The whole thing is like a fire that burns deep within us. For busnuts, the BNO is the sun in the sky. It's the air we breathe. It's the very nerve ending that connects us to each other, and to our buses. BNO should be the first three letters of the alphabet! (GMC should be the next three!) So there you have it, positive proof that mere words--at least from me--cannot begin to express how much we appreciate your efforts on behalf of busnuts everywhere. BNO ROCKS! You're the greatest, Ian. Randy Terry |

Cheers to the 1.6% of us Safari users! But seriously, Ian, I've said it here a million times, but it's never enough. I could not have even contemplated this project without you and the folks on here and again, my unfailing gratitude. All the very best, Chuck |

I@n, as sorry that you didn't get down to Jacks do, as I thought you would return the packet of FMCA articles and the Pos/neg changeover items I sent in the Summer. Do you need my FLA address? FF |

I'm sure I'm not one of the 74,460 that have been online at BNO for over an hour, but I am just a grateful that it is there. I have a couple motorcycle forums and a Pontiac forum to fit into my workday schedule also. I am only online while I'm at work because I don't have Internet at home. (Being on the computer all day at work tends to burn me out) If I haven't said it enough Thanks to everyone that has helped me with my bus. . |

You rock, I@n! Thanks for providing this amazing forum (and for sifting through thousands of spam messages on our behalf). Oh, and Firefox/Mozilla SHOULD be gaining momentum over IE... a safer (saner) way to browse on our WinDoze platforms, IMHO. Brian Brown 4108-216 w/ V730 Longmont, CO USA |

Ian When I click on that all I get is yet another window of busnut. Last summer I sent my entire FMCA Bus conversion file to your Canadian address , presumably so you could copy and post the articles. "Lost in the mail"? hope not as many articles would not be obtainable . Jack has copies of the FMCA conversion sets from a conversation in Arcadia , but only 14 (10 + 4). FF |

Hi Fred, Click on my name, my profile pops up and my email link is always there. Meantime ian@busnut.com comes to me, too. Please don't tell me you relied on the two finest (!) mail delivery services in the world to send me something (United States Postal Service & Canada Post), because I have never received anything from you. Start a trace, 'cause I agree that the stuff you sent is pretty much irreplaceable. Ian www.busnut.com |
