Hi,
We need some suggestions for a simple to install (no welding), low profile, secure deadbolt for our MC-9 door. Our factory installed lock finally broke. A couple years ago a locksmith friend of ours suggested a low profile deadbolt. Only problem, he retired, and the new guys that bought his shop don't know what he was talking about. And we have lost contact with the previous owner. Thanks!

I went kinda backward. There's no room in my door (British double-decker bus) so I put the lock in the bus wall so that the deadbolt pin goes into the door. Works ... that's my way.

Airstream has been using the wall mounted deadbolt for many years. It has a lot of advantages over the door mounted unit. It is much easier to make it strong, the deadbolt is not protruding into the walkspace, etc. Even tne travel trailer folks have some good ideas.
