Next Monday at 3pm Susan and I go to closing on the new/old house and property. Everything checked out as far as title search, water test (has a well), land survey, home inspection (needs work we already knew).
The funds are in order along with the proper paperwork like insurance. We have the electric on hold until we are the owners. The hardest damn thing to do so far is getting the proper source out there to raise a stupid cable that goes over the driveway. I measured it from the ground and it measures 12'9". Not nearly high enough for our H3 to pass under. I called the power company and they went out there immediatly to tell me it wasn't a power line but in fact a cable for TV. I called the cable company and had an appointment for them to raise it yesterday. No show! I called them today and the young girl gets ahold of dispatch and they say they will go out there today. No time given! Oh well, the girl says "it's the line going from the pole to the house correct"? I said "NO, it's the line going from pole to pole across the driveway". She say's "ok that's a power line"! I said, "it's a cable line and it better be done today". She said "goodbye" and I never heard her say it!
I bet they will come out there when I take it down with my bus and yes, I have reference numbers to both my orders so they will know I DID call and ask them to have this done!

next hardest thing is finding someone local to build a friggin building! Nobody wants to work anymore. Got the money, just need the building and someone to build it! Heck I even offered to finish it, just put it UP!

Ahh the fun has just begun....

Ace,
Who needs cable, don’t you have Satellite and direct TV in the bus?
See if you can get that cable put under ground.

the cable doesn't go to that house that I know of. It supplies the others down the road from it.

Knocking your new neighbor's cable out will surely make a lasting impression on them.

I can think of better ways to introduce yourself to the neighborhood.

Good luck with the butt-heads at the cable office. (& the neighbors too) :-)

is there a height law for cables or wires that cross the roads or driveways ? if so the owner of the cable or wire must move it or they must pay for the damages pluss the repairs to the cable or wire

Well what do youknow! I went over there just before it got dark and the large cable that I measured from is now above the 3 smaller lines that appear to be phone lines. I will have to measure them now to be sure they just didn't lower them below thier own to make it look good but I think they may have done thier job, for once!

It was raining and cold so I will wait to measure it tomorrow, maybe!

Just put a used 20'+ tuck box or container for temporary storage, or rent.

Hello Ace
The wife and I are in the same process of moving in our own house.
We are moving a little at a time, as I have been working to get everything done. I just got the drive way to the point I can get the bus in, and not get stuck. Ha. (Good ole Missouri Mud) YUCK !!
I am like you, Got the house, and nowhere to go with the extra stuff. The wife is happy, but, I can't find a place for my things. Gotta mave a storage shed, and a barn for the bus, and a place to work, and- -------. You know.
Congradulations on your move.

Ace, if you do decide to take wrench's advice on a storage container, one on wheels is just as good and easy to sell when you are through with it.

Things I learned last year about storage trailers:

They always leak after they are moved and the old rivets all work in the old sheet metal. The seller will not tell you this. Paint the roof with sealant after you park it where it is going to stay.

A reefer is insulated and looks good for Florida, but you cannot tell where a small leak is coming from. With a Dry Van you can see where the water comes in and patch quickly. Some also let in light (and heat).

In the Lakeland area I was able to buy a steel stairway from phosphate company scrap that made access easy at Scappy Thomas in Mulberry for under $100.

If you buy a Container, you have to have it hauled by a container hauler when it is moved. It cannot be picked off the ground when full.

A semi trailer can be moved by anybody with a semitractor.

They make great storage fairly cheap, but be paranoid about leaks. I lost a lot of stuff to learn this lesson.
