Thanks y'all for the info on the Fuel Pro! The tachometer needle was intermittant reciently and finally died. Where do I start??? (103DL3 w/ S-60 & 755 Allison) |

Usually connected to the "R" terminal on the alternator. This point generates a pulsing DC waveform and the tach counts the pulses. If I keep my solar panels connected to the battery while I'm driving, they will top off the battery bank and the alternator will quit charging. This drives the tach nuts. Without the additional source of power messing with the regulator, the alternator will keep a small charge rate going and the tach is happy. HTH |

Doug One way to test is to cut the circuit in half - is it the Meter or the Sender Using a 12volt "wall Wart" (those little transformers that plug in the wall) Disconnect the tach sender wires and hook the neg side of the 12v wall wart to ground - the other side to the tach signal line - turn the ignition on and see what the tach reads If the tach is an "R" terminal driven device the tach should read 410 RPM - if the tach is driven from a standard DDEC style 12 pulses per revolution - that would equal 600 rpm on the tach You might even get away with using a small cheap 12 volt battery charger in place of the wall wart - the cheaper the better (no filtration to smooth out the inverted sine wave pulses (full wave rectified) no reading then - go after the sender side of the circiut Pete RTS/Daytona |

Doug, Sometimes my circuit breaker needs wiggling.I usually don't have as many component failures as electrical ones. |
