Check this jewel out. Glad I wasn't riding or driving.

I can tell you one thing about this one.... That little POS in front would have been the one with the problem, not me. People are so STUPID sometimes.

Roy, 2nd vid is a good prime example of how stupid "other" drivers are about how long it takes to slow a 20 ton vehicle down. It really pissed me off too to see the creater of that accident drive off. Steve

I would have run that bus up his exhaust pipe and see how the stupid could wake up then.

I'm with ya' Steve. It made me really MAD too!!! There is NO WAY I would have ever turned that steering wheel like that. I'd transfer the problem right up that little yellow cars tail.

Shoot, it wasn't 3 weeks ago someone ALMOST pulled out in front of the ole' RTS. Luckily they reexamined and stopped mid pull out. Although I did swerve similar to that bus, had I not, I would have SURELY taken him out and I do believe there would have been loss of life. They came out halfway into my lane of travel, we are BOTH lucky no one was in the oncoming lane... It would have been SUPER BAD!!! Luckily it all worked out. :-) Seriously in that 2nd video, I would have done one of 2 things.... Either just rear end that guy or just go around him in the middle of the road. NOT SWERVING OFF ROAD THOUGH, OR EVEN TO POINT OF LOSS OF CONTROL. NO WAY NO HOW. Kids in the road would be about what it would take to make me do something like that. Then they better hope it takes me out though, cause I'm gonna be hot! LOL

That car would have had a case of sudden acceleration had he done that in front of me. The only thing to think about is what the bus driver COULD have done if he hadn't been so busy flashing his lights at the idiot? From the video it looks like the bus driver had time to make an easy lane change at first to avoid the idiot, instead of a last instant swerve on wet pavement. Does anyone know if anyone hurt or killed? Including the people in the building! The same thing happened to me at Lake Powell, with my wife and my late father in law sitting up front. The only things that kept us out of the headlines were, dry weather, no oncoming traffic, and about a half second more time to "duck"! We passed the idiot through the oncoming left turn lane going at least 50 mph faster than he was!!!

He does I believe... at first its mud, but then you see the windshield fly out then I think he rolls out in a white shirt, but it happens fast. But I agree with you Bob.

This was a long time ago. There were, as I recall, two fatalities on the bus, one of whom was the driver.

We discussed this to death here a year or two ago.

Not to excuse the idiot in the car, but this was one bad bus driver, who paid for it with his life.

The one in the tunnel has also been around the 'net a while. That one's harder to figure, since the articulated joint systems in these are a source of real problems when the road surface gets slick for any reason. Some US fleets ground their artics whenever the roads get wet or icy.

Correction: 18 injured, one killed.

Here's the link from when we hashed this out back in '05:

Sorry for repeat posting, I just saw them yesterday and I spent the ENTIRE night looking through posts on this board (not archived ones though) and didn't notice anything, so I thought I might post about it. I was shocked how both drivers could have been so incompetent.

Complacency happens some times...

Just expect drivers to do really stupid things and you'll never be dissapointed (however the degree of stupidity still catches me off guard some times).

I recently installed a camera in my pickup because people didn't believe some of the stuff I've seen on the road (drivers getting their cars on two wheels after cliiping a well marked curb, drivers running off cliffs, drivers sitting there with that dumb - albiet vacant look on their face while the fire truck behind them with the "pretty lights" and siren on is laying on the horn, the list goes on). Hopefully now that I have the camera, I'll have some good stuff to share with you guys too in the future.

Cheers!

Two things every Busnut should learn from that.

1. Be glad you drive a bus. If that had been a stick and staples it would have shattered and spilled it's entire contents on the ground. Shows how tough a coach body is.

2. Use your seat belt. Driver would have probably walked away.

Meaningless opinion. Wonder if the driver did something stupid like popping the emergency brakes?

Amen to seatbelts...might have been a better ending for the driver. It surprised me too that he had time to hit the headlights as some type of warning but waited til after that to crank the steering wheel over hard on what appears to be a staight section of road with no oncoming traffic.
Easy to second guess someone after the fact, but it has been my experiance that less is more in those type of situations.
