I have just brought my Eagle 5 with air assist steering home. Works fine at low speed, but get up over 30mph and it seems very "choppy" when turning. I have the brochure from the previous owner stating it is an "Air-O-Matic" unit from Sycon corporation. Anyone familiar with these or have a troubleshooting guide?
TIA

As with all steering systems, you will need to go over all the steering components and remove any slop or play, as air assist steering has to have a little play in the assist sensing unit to apply the power assist.Check king pins, tie rod ends, steering box for play, including the shaft that the pittman arm is attached to, for bushing wear, drag link ends, and u=joints in the drive shaft from steering column to steering box. After that is checked and corrected, you need some positive caster in the alignment setting to stop wandering.

First, replace the shocks with a set of good air adjustable ones. Makes a world of difference and gets rid of the porpoising.

nobody is paying attention to his question, there should be an adjustment that lets you steer a little longer, before the air assist cuts in,...it takes a certain amout of steering wheel pressure to activate the air-o-matic,
