I can't find any straight 40 around southwest ohio area. Napa can order their brand that says less than 1% ash but I would much rather have a brand name. I really want to find Delo 100. I hear it has the best specs. I tried the Chevron website lookup and made a phone call or two but came up with nothing promising. |

NAPA can order Chevron 40 wt as well.......I am getting more and more disapointed in NAPA Employees....seems it is hard to find one that is willing to do a parts guy's job anymore.....looking things up. I get mine from the distributor, almost 2.00 cheaper than NAPA......and if I get 6 cases they deliver it from 60 miles away for free. |

I think TSC (Tractor Supply Store) has straight 30 and 40 for diesel engines. (don't remember what brand name) I've seen it there in 5 gal buckets for around $45. . |

NAPA can also order Rotella-T. I've found a few that stock it, but not many. The NAPA in where I used to live in NH stocked it because I was using it and I asked them to stock it. Ross |

I purchased a 55 gallon drum from local fuel and oil distributor. Should last for a few years and looks like 40wt is going to be more difficult to locate in some areas as time goes on. |

Don't know about the midwest, but in the west Costco carries Delo 400/40 in 1 gallon by the case at an attractive price. Might check at Walmart too. |

Mark - Delo 400 is no longer listed by Chevron as a CF-2 oil, it's been reformulated for the four-strokes, now carries a CF-4 rating. Check the labels closely, as there is some older production 400 rated CF-2 floating around out there. FWIW & HTH. . .

Believe it or not Rotella-T is available at Home Depot!! If your local HD doesn't have it ask them to order it for you. I found mine in a MS HD probably because there is a lot of logging there. Any place near marine or logging industries will have it. |

I sent Shell Rotella ask or expert an e-mail asking about their oil in a 2 stroke 8v71, here is their answer. Ed, Shell Rotella T Single Grade SAE 40 is acceptable for Detroit Diesel series 71 2-stroke engines in the vast majority of applications. The exceptions would be for ambient temperatures below 0 deg F (SAE 15W-40 acceptable, SAE 30 OK in non-marine applications) or when coolant outlet temperatures exceed 200 deg F (SAE 50 recommended). Higher TBN oils may also be acceptable where the fuel sulfur level exceed 0.5%. Regards, XX XXXXXXX Subject: Rotella Ask Our Expert: Vehicle-Related |

Cameron, I am not sure where you are in SW Ohio, but I have been buying 40 wt. Rotella from the NAPA in Miamisburg. They usually have it, but if not will order it and have it in a couple of days. |

I live in Milford, OH, just east of Cincinnati. Tractor Supply (TSC) has straight 30 and 40 in 5 gal and 2 gallon containers. They have stores in Fairfield, Batavia and Loveland that I know of. Just changed mine last weekemd in my PD4106 with 8V71 Detroit Diesel on Kemper Rd in Cincinnati and Truck Pro have filters. Dietoit Diesel has conversion kit (about $40) for spin on filter and original filter replacements. email me outside if you need more info. just click on my name next to posting |

Jim, if you have a DD dealer in your area you can buy the right oil from them and it doesn't cost any more than other places |
