Craig at Eagle says they are holding a ralley at the plant in Brownsville April 19-22. I think it is a 50th anniv. function. If anybody is interested it sounds like it will be fun and informative. |

Hey you guys if you went to his web site he has a link to make comments. If you'd like I'll forward all of your comments to him for you (with your names attached of course). From the pictures I've seen of your buses there's an awful lot of glass in each of them for you guys to be throwing stones. |

i think its still a bit too early to be making any sort of judgement on the new Eagles. what craig has decided to do is a HUUUUUUUGE undertaking, and i applaud him for coming so far. although, i do agree that the bus in the pics does look a bit odd. im not sure if its the camera optics or what, but the bus looks really tall, and the tires look like theyre on 20" rims. and that classic eagle sloping front cap has been consolidated it seems, too. once he has a running, painted, revenue-ready bus, then ill pass my final judgement. kyle in norcal 1980 Eagle 10 #30223 |

I don't think those are 20" wheels....if they are he is going to have some problems when he needs to put 22.5's or 24's on. It is tall.....prob pushing the max......factory raised roof concept. would be nice if he had more comprehensive photos. I have seen wooden GM and Mack mockups that look more like a complete running bus. Right now it looks like pannels glued to a frame. It is a huge undertaking.......but he needs someone with some sales background.......he should have several sold already and a nice website with good pictures of the product...even if in the building stage. Even if I was in the market and new nothing of buses I would not even consider this one. One of the guys who talks to Craig ought to enlighten him. It would be money well spent. he could prob pay a few hunder and get a highschool kid to crank him out a nice website in a few hours. |

Im ruten all for em guys.... I have to say this for them. I called and inquired about the front end parts for my 69. No problem, they said all they have to have is my vin number and if they didnt have what I needed, they would produce it to fit, off the original blueprints, with out any question. Now I dont know about any of you other Eagle owners, but Im damn glad to know these guys are there. Sure beats stomping around in a salvage yard looking for a decent something part that you cant buy new any more. Just try to call any other manufactuer of any brand and try to get a 38 year old part made and see what, say, "ford" would say, that is if you can get by the stupid computer that answers the phone that is!!! For this reason alone, I dont care if they stick a dd in go cart and put it out on a dealership lot for sale somewhere, as long as they are in bussiness its got to be all good for us Eagle owners. Just my 2 cents (maybe 5 cents) worth!! kysteve I sure wished I lived in the days when we helped our american companies stay in bussiness!!!!!! (Message edited by kysteve on February 27, 2007) |

I agree totally. I know that aside from a few investors, they must be surviving mostly on the parts department, and to have to run a full fledged parts business(that is attempting to provide available parts for the thousands of eagles already out there), and design a brand new bus from the tires up(including conforming to all sorts of DOT mandates, not to mention dealing with outside sources like DD, Allison, Cat, and Cummins) must be so overwhelming. and on top of that, craig ahs to pay his employees and still be able to put some $$ in his pocket at the end of the day. so considering all that, I think I can excuse the website. that bus in the photos probably IS just a basic mockup, but its better than trying to guess what the new model 25's will look like. I'm sure a great website would only be a few hundred dollars, but why spend it when you can put that $$ towards your fledgling business and just do the page yourself for free? and lastly, remember that they are literally hitting the ground running. they haven't even put out a bus yet, and they already have to compete with MCI, Prevost, Setra, Van Hool, etc. that's tough. so craig and the whole crew have my support. I bought my manuals from them, and will probably buy a tshirt and mug just to help them out. I'm a die hard Eagle lover, and its awesome to see someone trying to bring back one of the greatest buses to ever roll down the hiways of america. kyle in norcal 1980 Eagle 10 #30223 |

I agree with you Kyle. My hats off to them -- they dream it, they believe it, and it is happening! No matter what the 'nay' sayers have to say. They are pursuing their American Dream. I to am a die hard Eagle Nut and I love to hear my Eagle just rust away. Wow, what a thrill. There's only a limited # of us that can say that and 'It Feels Great'. From a business perspective he needs to put some advertising out and showcase his product. Honestly if he thinks he is making a good go of it he should be taking orders and deposits at this point. If his market is out there they will shell out the deposit. This really isn't the type of product or business to build first then advertise. If it were me I would be wanting 10 deposits on buses prior to the first one rolling off the line. BTW, How many eaglees of different models were produced? |

i do know for a fact that craig is taking deposits on shells. its $5000.00, and you get to pick which production order # you want(ie: if you want bus # 33, 456, 22, 91, etc). in fact, i was breifly considering a new shell from Eagle(and they are building model 15's along with the new 25), and they even offered to take my current bus as credit towards a new shell. and maybe he is waiting on enough deposits to actually assemble his first bus. as far as eagle models produced, all i could find was the listing for the model 10 from coachinfo.com. which lists 2,217 model 10's produced(including the less popular model 10S). ill call Eagle tomorrow and see if they can help at all. kyle in norcal |

That may be just to get a place in line, when they actually start production they may require more. I grew up loving eagles and hope they make a great comeback. |

FWIW Here is some information that may be helpful to some of you fellow Bus Nuts. The following was taken from a book I have that the late Gary Dean supplied me with titled "Encyclopedia of Buses" Ed Stauss. ALL-TIME EAGLE PRODUCTION ESTIMATES Year...........Factory.............Quanty 1956-'61......Kassabohrer.........200 1962-'77......Bus & Car..........4,000 1974-'87......Texas...............2,989+ 1978-'87......MOL-Eaglebus.........50 Notes: 1. Bus & car figures include worldwide deliveries, about 1,450 were Model 01. 2. Brownsville, Texas plant still in production**: Texas figures units delivered from Harlingen and Brownsville through December, 1987 **Data that was available at the writing of this book. It's the people behind the website that determine the real quality. Remember the flashy website promising to custom convert your bus? (Walker or something) In reality all they did was commit fraud (according to the court). Having said this, I'd expect that part sales will help build his reputation. I can't immagine very many people willing to drop 6 figgures on a bus from a company with minimal reputation or history. I hope he makes a great & successful business of it. |
