When it comes to heating using a diesel fired unit such as Webasto, Proheat, Aqua Heat, Espar etc. I've noticed that Aqua Heat offers a complete unit including reservior, pumps controls, valves, etc all included in a single unit. Others offer just the burner unit w/pump. Of you fellas out there, who has pieced their systems together and who has bought a complete unit? When piecing together, who's valves, pumps, heat exchangers, controllers, etc have you used? Can't make up my mind on which way to go. |

Kinda like purchasing a "plain Jane" automobile...one that doesn't have all the accessories. Cheaper but still the same basic unit. Begin to add heat exchangers, valves, etc, etc, and one begins to add $$$. I paid less than $1000 for a used Webasto...added a used HD pump, bought some clamps, hose and not much else and have probably $1200 total ( plus my labor) in the system. As I want to expand I can do it, but so far, haven't needed to after three years. A reservoir for example is only a few bucks at most any home improvement center. Keep in mind the Aqua Hot is just a Webasto with lots of things to make it a package. Last I heard...about $6500+-. FWIW RCB '64 Crown Supercoach (HWC) |

Kenny Have not pieced together a system, but in the researching that I have done, I paid a visit to our local Webasto and Proheat dealer, they sell both and was told that the Proheat outsells the Webasto ten to one . One of the reasons given was that on the Proheat everything is mounted and accessable on the outside, whereas on the Webasto everything is contained within, making servicing more difficult. Joe. |
