Any more information out there on the use of ULSD in Detroit two-strokes since 2006? On another board there was concern with Cummings having some leak problems. I spoke with my Detroit shop and they said no concern to use this fuel. Anyone use an additive or think it necessary? Just checking for updates or experiences since the few posts last year. No need to use ULSD in the lower 48 (except Cali) unless you fuel at a place that only has one tank and must carry ULSD - LSD will be here until at least Dec 2010 - HTH |

A lot of locals in Penna only have ulsd because they don't want to invest in addntl. tank to be able carry both. |

I ask about actual experience since we are shipping our '92 Concept to Europe in the next few weeks and they use an abundance of Euro-4, ultra low sulfur diesel (USLD), over there. Recently there have been some comments by Cummings mechanics who are seeing fuel seal leakage and suspect it has to do with the ULSD. Some additives are available and I am not sure which ones are worthy and which ones are "snake oil". Reputable Detroit techs have said there is no problem, but the Cummings techs also have said the same thing in the past. Only busnuts could probably give a clue to any real world experience. Anyone seeing leakage they suspect may be caused by ULSD? (Message edited by ultimarv on March 04, 2007) |

I have lots of experience. I live in northern CA and all we have here is ULSD. the Chevron that I habitually use for fueling(because its about 20mi closer than the flying J) only has ulsd. I've been putting it in my green 1980 6v92TA for almost a year straight(aside from my trip to seattle in oct., where I used an abundance of OR and WA diesel for about a week), and have noticed no problems. no leaks, no smoke, no difference in power. Robert on another (not to hijack this one) thread I wish you'd further discuss this Europe trip with your coach - thanks |

I checked with two friends running marine applications of the 8v92TA in Europe and they don't seem to have any problems, as of yet. So we hope also not. Niles: I'll start a topic, although I am not so sure how much info we can provide at present. We'll keep posting as we go along though. |
