Greetings! I've just started working on a 1978 Crown and I'm looking for advice on initial floor installation. Anyone that has any advice/tips I'd sure like to hear about them. This is the beginning of what is going to be an extensive remodel. I'm looking forward to any help you may have. Thanks! Robyn |

Are there any other reader boards that might help? Thanks again |

Greetings to a Crown bus owner. I have a couple Crown buses. I do not know any Crown folks who did any special work to the existing floor. Most Crown floors are 2 layers of 5/8th plywood spanning some under floor supports. On certain occasions, access thru the factory openings make certain tasks more easy. Changing the trans is easier when lifting unit from above with a chain fall or come along. Making a floor plan is good planning. My bus is mostly converted and no extra work or weight was added. Go to WWW.Bustropolis.com There are lots of pics and information under Crown. You may send me a note at frank-idatcrown.myrf.net What engine/trans do ya have? Frank |

Hi Frank, I'm another new Crown owner. I followed the link in your reply and saw a photo of a door I wouldn't mind getting my hands on. I have no idea if you still have that bus or if you need the door but just in case... the door I'm referring to was on an "Atomic" Crown and looks just like mine. |

Just a follow up to the original post, try http://www.mrsharkey.com The owner of the site, Mr. Sharkey is turning his 40' Crown into a housebus. The site is oriented toward housetrucks and housebuses but there is lots of good info on Crowns and the forums are also full of info. |

Greetings Miles Hunter I am scrapping a couple of Crown buses. If ya send a pic of what you want/need, Will check to see what I have remaining. Your bus pic does not look like my Crowns. Please send me a note and some pics. Tell all about your Crown. The front of the pic you posted, looks like a late bus by Carpenter/Crown.. Tell all ya know. If I can help, I will.. Frank |

Hey, it's R.C. Bishop! You're the main reason I registered on this board. You're right, our buses are very similar, mine is a 1963 Tour Coach I bought recently on eBay. Mine is 35' long, has a Cummins 220 (no turbo) and, get this, a 12 speed Spicer transmission. I won the bidding on eBay then started looking for info on the bus and found some at mrsharkey.com. In the process, I ran across several different photos of your bus, although I didn't know it was yours until I started lurking on Bus Nuts a little later. You can read the saga at: http://www.mrsharkey.com/forum/vwtp.php?t=367 I have lots of photos, some of which you can see in the forums at Mr. Sharkey's. I would have posted a photo of a rusty door here but I ran into a size limit. The reduced photo I have is 42K and there is a 30K limit here. RC (mind if I call you RC?) I saw your old postings where you were trying to sell some windows. Someone has taken to shooting out my windows with a BB gun, seven broken so far. You wouldn't still happen to have any, would you? My bus has a serious rust problem at the right front corner. I didn't find out about this until I went to pick up the bus. The door is badly eaten up and it might be more practical to replace it than try to repair it. I know another Tour Coach door would work but I didn't know until I looked at Frank's photos that the Atomic Crowns used the same door. RC, I'm very curious about your bus and it doesn't seem to me that Las Cruces is to far to take the bus and my wife and stepdaughter for a little trip (any excuse I can get). I'm out of town working right now but maybe some time this spring? Frank and RC, I can send tons of photos, maybe you should check that link at Mr. Sharkey's first, there are small versions of a lot of them there. It's a pleasure to be able to communicate with both of you. There are several others here I'd like to communicate with, I'll get to it eventually. |

Miles...I sent you an email a month or so ago...didn't get it?. Will try again, so let me know. Lots to talk about, but most would not be of any particular interest to the board. Seems as Crowners we're in a minority... Rest have no idea what they are miissing....huh, Mark, Frank, RJ, Elden, Gary, Doug and Henry!!! Thanx for the special remarks. RCB |

Seems like you could build just about anything on top of a crown frame. You wouldn't have to keep the body. Could be some interesting possibilities there. |
