Well I've done the initial shakedown of my '78 Eagle Model 5 (8V71N - H740...) and am preparing to get on the road. Starting from El Paso, Texas sometime in April '07 and heading East... will stop to see the kids in Austin, then it's the Gulf Coast before it gets too hot; maybe the Fla. Keys 'cause I've never been there, then up the Mississippi to Kenora on Lake of the Woods in Canada before the end of summer. I'm going to upgrade my 8V71N along the way... perhaps adding a turbo. I've heard good things about Todd in Baton Rouge, La. (have a phone number but can't find it now!!!!) Any one have experience with Todd (in Baton Rouge)... or can you recommend shops, mechanics, etc. between here and there?
On the list are maximizing performance on the existing set up; getting Jake brakes operative (prior owner said they were working the last time he used the bus, but not now...) Stabalizing jacks... in motion SatTV... etc., etc.. Thanks to all.... hope to see you on the road!

Hi big guy, Tex Ritter here in Connecticut. I used Todd to do some work on my Eagle back when we livied in Alexandra, La. in 2002. He's trust worthy but the location of the shop is questionable. None the less, he did a great job at a resonable price.
Any chance your headed this way be sure to let us know.
Take care...

The "keys" are great - but rare to find parking for a bus if not pre-arranged in the lower keyys - FWIW

If you come up the coast to North Carolina David at davids coach and truck repair is great. Knows two stroke diesel's and you can see your self in the floor. He will steam clean the engine before he works on it. He is on HY 15 between Morganton and Shelby in western nc
