Ok, aside from the wear and tear items; tires, batteries, oil changes and options like adding levelers, awnings etc... how many miles have you logged without being in the shop or buying a part? (Even if you didn't pay for any labor!) Anyone get close to 100k???

I bought a pipe plug to plug off a broken oil line in Corning Ca.last week. It was the mechanics test line with a quick connect that blew. Went from the fan drive motor to the rear of the coach. The pipe plug seemed a little expensive at $1.50, but I bought a couple extras for the tool box while I was there. That was on my Eagle 20. Ran thru the nite from Buttonwillow to Corning with a pair of vise grips pinching the line and my trouble lite tied to the back bumper so I could see the oil spray if the vise grips came off.

For what it's worth....
Parts rusted off each of our RVs, while just sitting in storage...
and I can't remember any totally uneventful trip$ with any
commercially built RV we've owned....

Every Trip is an Adventure.

It comes down to how far can I get without parts falling off. The next level is full timing with the policy of wherever we break down will be home for a while until repairs are made and then move on...

I have travelled a grand total of 700 miles since buying a 4106, generally in great shape. Got stuck at the beach in southern California (ain't it awful) with dead engine start batteries. Dead because:
1) Operator did not realize that engine batteries will supply house unless they are manually isolated with a rotary switch. House batts were run down to 11 volts while boondocking.
2) The two 8D start batts are toast. After charging back up, ran a little test by leaving headlamps on for 1 hr then trying to start (got slow crank and no start)

I'm hoping for better when we go SoCal to Michigan this summer.

Steve -

1. Replace expensive 8ds with inexpensive group 31s
2. Install a battery isolator, to automatically separate the
start batts from the house batts.
3. Enjoy life!

Stopped for fuel at regular place just before pulling off on a trip to a bus show in Philly (100 miles away on a 101 degree day. My buddy and I were running a pair of GM TDH 5106s. The station attendent looked at us and asked, "And where do you two THINK you're going today?"

That trip was unventful, but a couple of others weren't.

1964 4106 I think we can safely say about 15,000 miles with out any problems.

We took (my family of 4) our bus around the country on a full time trip for 2 year about 50,000 miles

I would not have done it any other way IE Sticks and staples.
