I had to look at the bus before I could reply. The shift is marked as follows. 1-2 3-4 3-5 3-6 N R. Is it a 5 speed or some ancient thing that I can never get repaired. It only shifts hard when shifting or locking up the converter on the final shift. It appears to shift harder if I back out of it just before it shifts. Any help gentleman. Thanks |

I was just looking through my MC-8 manual tonight and noticed that transmission mentioned. It's a 6-speed, but that's all it said, and I've never heard of one (which doesn't mean much). It was actually in the electrical diagram section. I'm curious about it as well. |

Hi John the HT70 is a very good trans. It is a six speed planetary gear type trans with lock up converter. When the trans. shifts it is designed to open the lock up clutch momentarily and relock at each shift. This alows for some cushion of the tourqe during a shift. It also should be equipped with a hydraulic retarder for trans. braking. There is a place in Texas that has all the info. and parts for this trans. I got the service manual and the parts manual from them. By the way when you start out in the first selection 1-2 it will only shift from first to second. In selection two it starts out in third and shifts to fourth. In selection 3 it starts out in third and shifts twice 3-4-5. In selection 4 starts in third shifts three times 3-4-5-6. Sixth gear is an over drive and was available in two overdive ratios. Mine is the optional .71 ratio. If I can be of any help feel free to e mail. Best of luck Tim |
