I'm on a tour with a band and need help ASAP and need to be on the road no later than monday night.

if you can help, Its much appreciated. please call me ASAP- 847-863-6499

Chris, try this... Wait until you have maximum air pressure (125#). Release the parking brake control.
Hold the brake treadle down for a minimum of 5 seconds (stand on it) or longer. quick release..and attempt to move the bus.

If this doesn't work cycle the parking brake knob to release and back on without your foot on the treadle...block the wheels for safety...and try again.

What can happen is that the grease used to lubricate the balls for the locking portion of the parking brake can get hard and require a bit of extra effort to release them. Mine did ...and as soon as I could I rebuilt the DD-3's.

Good Luck.

It might just be a stuck shoe. Put a little torque on it in reverse, see if it comes loose. Where are you? If the DD3 needs a rebuild then you need to rebuild or exchange it now. You may be able to run a maxi can if you can't find a DD3. Find a commercial brake rebuilder in your area. There are parts available next day air also.

If it is the brake chamber, you can get a new one at NAPA for around 45.00. You should also have a key on the one on your coach. Build your coach up to max air pressure, release the brakes, stick the key in the slot and turn it 45 degrees. Then back that chamber off with an open end box end wrench. I think its a 5/8 or 9/16. I am here in Lakeland Fl. but I have no way to get to you. I am at Quadra getting new Levelers.

Just to clarify. Several folks have given answers as if this was a spring brake system. It should be a DD3 and I doubt that NAPA will have that part. Just to be sure I did a search at the NAPA online store and got several hits for spring brake chambers but not DD3. DD3 is not a common item in the HD industry. I believe it is only used on buses.

Also, the fix of backing off the spring with the draw bolt will not work on a DD3 as far as I know.

Sounds like the shop that has been recommended will be able to deal with the DD3 system. Obviously, Luke will have the parts and can probably get them to the closest location quickly.

MCI Parts will also be able to supply the DD3 chamber. Their rebuilt chambers are in the range of $400.00 exchange (i.e. there is about a $400.00 core charge added that is refunded when the old chamber is received by MCI Parts). They should be able to send it to you overnight by courier. Go to the MCI website for contact information. You will need to call by telephone. They are not usually very responsive to e-mails.
