Hi Ian, You've probably noted the interest generated on the "floorplan" thread. In fact, I think it was your posting of your floor plan that helped spark it. Several more have been posted since then. Was thinking this might be an idea for a special "topic area" where people could post floor plans. One site is collecting CAD drawings, which is great, but requires CAD software to view, which is not available to everyone. On the other hand, GIF files are universally viewable, and fast to look at. Floor plans, to me, are one of those areas where seeing lots of ideas is really helpful. Also, one of those topic areas that there hasn't, in my opinion, been enough sharing of. Maybe something like this could stimulate collecting a bunch of floor plans and discussion about the needs they're trying to meet, etc. FWIW. Thanks, john |

Hi John, I have re-named the "Dimensions of bus floor plans" to "Bus Floor Plans" and moved the thread to the top of the view page. This will make it easy to find now as the thread is filling up with messages and will be easy to find in the "Keyword Search" function of this bbs by typing in the words, "floor plans" or "floorplans". Try it! Regards, Ian www.busnut.com |

Hi Ian, I'm slightly confused by your instructions on the floor plans thread. What did you mean by "the file must be running on your server"? The instructions under "Formatting" indicate that the file can be located on your local hard drive, and is uploaded to the BBS server. I just tried that, and it worked fine. Did I misunderstand? Just wanted to clarify for folks in case they think they have to upload the file to their own ISP or their own web site or something. It's really very simple. Thanks, John |

Hi John, You are right. However, I have asked that the picture be running in the message author's web space and to "call" it from there. The reason is that I have imposed a file size limit to pictures that are uploaded to BNO - that is, 20 kbytes. This limits the detail in any picture as Dennis Gloe noted in his message regarding the Scott Whitney floor plan. Instead, if a viewer is sent to a full size picture running on their own server, details aren't compromised by compression. I was trying to clarify that in my other message and now that you have helped to clarify things by asking me for a clarification, it should be quite clear now. Yes? :-) Regards, Ian www.busnut.com |

John: I read your post at the top and you got me thinking. So I tweaked the page where design plans are posted. You can now click the description to view the plan in a "JPG" format on your browser. I can increase the image size as well if needed. Thanks for the idea. Jerry |

Jerry - cool! I like it. One other suggestion: I went to your site to check it out and it took me a few minutes to figure it out. You may want to include a "what's new" feature on your front page. That's the first thing I looked for when I couldn't figure out where the jpg's were. Thanks, john |

To BNO BBS Viewers: I have a confession and apology to make. Although not done maliciously, I did post and make reference to another website which I had created as a fellow bus enthusiast. Some time ago I had posted reference to my website and was asked by this sites creator, Ian, not to promote my site on the BBS. Ignorance of Ian’s Rules and “Netiquette” for his site was truly my first and only defense. After Ian’s warning, I believe I was most careful not to incur such an infraction again. Well, I clearly slipped (as pointed out by Ian). Caught up in the enthusiasm of seeing other people’s coach layouts and designs, I offered to receive someone’s image file and upload it to a host server I utilize, and provided them with their images (bus plan) URL. I emailed them the URL, tried to post their bus plan on this board – but without success. I then made the fateful error of including this individual’s bus plan on my site and did provide a link where people could find it. Again, I messed up. I forgot, ignored or just didn’t think (you pick) about the consequence of providing a link to another site – thus possibly redirecting this sites viewers. Malicious? No! Innocent? Yes! As you know, the trivial site that I have created pales in comparison to this sites technology, informative value, structure and ability to [hopefully] pay for itself (I am actually not sucking up here BTW). My self-funded site derived simply from (as mentioned earlier) my enthusiasm and enjoyment of buses. In closing, I do apologize to Ian for making any reference to another website -- however innocent. Further, per my email, will you please remove my profile from your database. Thanks, Jerry H. jerry@i-kb.com |

Hey Jerry, As a wannabie, trying to collect as much info as possible before my purchase and conversion, I hope your above post does not mean you will not be contributing to this site. Dennis |
