I am broke down in Tenn. with over heating. I replaced the water pump but not sure if there is a right and left hand pump. Still gets hot and rad. is cool so have rad. out getting rodded. Any other suggestions? Now do not have any heat up front.

Hope its not a cracked head or liner. If your pumping compression into the water, the air will push the coolant out the overflow and you can't keep it cool. Sounds like the heater lines are air locked, not a good sign,(where did the air come from?) If you looked at the fins on each water pump and they are the same, I think you are ok. If you have a dry liner engine you can probably rule the bottom end out. Do you have any water/antifreeze in the oil? I'm assuming you have checked the thermostat situation out.

Larry, you didn't say where in Tenn, but I'm in Nashville if you're close by and need any help. I agree, you've got air in the system for some reason.

It is very easy to get air in the system when replacing water pump, which you state you did. Must get all the air bled out of the system including the heater hoses.

Bus is in Collinwood Tenn. An 8v71 has dry sleeves, there is no water/antifreeze in the oil, and the thermostats were changed with the water pump. Air probably came from changing the pump and thermostats. Not sure how to get the air out of the heater lines. Don't seem to have pressure in the system when running but can't check while running down the road.
