The oil supply hose to my turbo sprung a big leak the other day. Oil was streaming out of the hole. It ran this way for about 45 min (I lost about 2.5 gallons in 30 miles, perhaps a new DD leak record?!). My question is did the turbo get damaged? I think it was still getting oil but not as much as usual. Engine performance is unchanged, no sudden smoking and no expensive noises that I can detect. I think I'll disconnect the fresh air side and check if there's any binding or roughness in the bearing. Any thoughts? It's a 6V-92TA BTW. (Message edited by hank on April 30, 2007) |

Hank, I think its ok. If it ate a bearing you would already know it. |

I suggest pulling the exhaust pipe back too. Spin both the compressor and hot section wheels and listen for rough bearing noise and check shaft end play. Good time to inspect the turbine blades too. Good luck. |
