I am looking at a Eagle with a blown 8v92. Can a 6v92 be dropped in without a lot of modification? and if I rebuild the present motor how much $$ am I looking at. Motor overheated and blew a rod. any input would be appreciated Bob |

I would rebuild rather than put an unknown motor in and possible have a problem the next day. What you would spend on a rebuild is prob what you would pay for a documented 6v92 |

And the 8V92 would be a lot more fun to drive. I pulled the 6V out of my 80 Eagle and put an 8V in. What a world of difference. Richard |

Robert,I don't like your chances with a rebuild on your engine. I think you need to many parts, like probably a crankshaft for starters. I don't think you will ever find happiness with a DDEC engine. My advice is to find a used MUI 8V92 for cost effeciency. That said,I feel the best engine they made was a dry sleve 8V71 TA and that is what I'd be looking for because I like to hot rod and the MUI 8V71TA gives you unlimited options. |

robert.. The really important thing is to identify the engine that is in the bus...LOTS of people 'think' they have a 8v92 when they really have an 8v71,which was a standard,NOT the 8v92.have seen lots of people advertise 8v92 & then 'claim' they 'thought' it was |

The current owner states the engine overheated and blew up?? Whatever happed it sounds like most of the engine is toast as far as using the current heads etc. |

The bus is a 1965 Eagle made in Belgium, What is different if anything on an Eagle made in Belgium? |

i also just happened to remember that there is a 1990 model 15 that the owner says is well cared for and running great. it was on ebay for $10k and didn't sell. it's probably still listed with his phone. it was not completely converted, more like a day coach. i just couldn't convince my wife we needed a spare. :-( |

sorry, i hit post before i finished. i meant to add that it may be a better idea than buying a bus with a bad engine, even if you had to change a few things to finish it up for a complete conversion. |
