Darn it, mom, I just about forgot again what day it is. Happy Mother's Day, babe, you're the best! Mmmmm... pumpkin pie; Gravy that Maisie just can't match; That special hug; Every time I call, you sound so pleased; Every time I don't, you don't let me know it cuts you like a knife; The world's best blood pudding; Always saying that it will be ok... even though it wasn't; Your 3 sons singing Christmas carols and you crying and us not knowing why; Being nervous driving with me just because it was dad who taught me 38 years ago; Laughing at our home movies... hating to see yourself; Worrying about me; Jumping out of your skin when the Blue Angels go by at the air show in Kingston; Sticking up for me at school; Letting me take the day off school every once in awhile; Introducing me to wine at the dinner table when I was underage but telling me why; Never faking a smile; Loving dad even though there may have been plenty of reasons not to at times; Working to help make ends meet during the rough times; Walking me to school; Teaching me that embracing my brothers and kissing them on the cheek every time I see them - even today - has nothing to do with manliness and everything to do with love; Lending me 20 bucks; Taking away the bag of 35 bubblegums I bought with the money I earned from my first paper route 42 years ago; Teaching me that women are not punching bags and to help the ones who are; And for all the other things you are to me.
