I need a 740 Allison brought out to Ca. from Ohio. Anyone got room in a bay, or driving a truck out here? Trans is on a pallet and forklift available at both ends.
More than willing to make it worthwhile,
Thanks, George

If you don't have any luck here, try joining the Transportation Board on the net. They sometimes have all kinds of postings looking for a load.

Check out www.uship.com
I tried to get an engine dolly shipped through this site once, and had people quoting very reasonable prices, but the timeliness was not what I was looking for. Ended up shipping via common carrier. LTL carriers rates vary all over the board. Check carefully with LTL carriers before ruling them out. Call several times for quotes, and check their websites for deals. Ship terminal to terminal. Don't ask for home delivery...they'll burn you on that. Plus, they'll load the trans for you at their terminal for free.
One other thingy...the converter won't fall off an HT Allison, but it'll hammer back and forth...I'd get the shipper to put a band of some sort over the front of the converter to keep the converter from moving. I don't know if the converter could be damaged by this, but?? If the converter is still installed??

JR,
Thanks for the advice on the converter.
And as notice to the rest of the board, a BIG thanks, because a bus nut with a truck is picking up the trans from the bus nut I am buying it from, arrangements were finalized off the board about four hours ago!
You can't beat this with a stick!
A very happy George
