Hi All I'm ready to put the sliding door between the bathroom-kitchen and bathroom-bedroom in and looking for ideas for sliding door hardware. All the usual pocket door hardware is made for a door thickness of 11/8-11/2" and I am planning a 3/4" door thickness. What did you use? Rob 91 LeMirage XL Missouri |

Hi Rob ... I used pocket door hardware, I have mirrors on both sides of the door. What you could use is a 24" drawer slide. and some kind of lock when it's open for travel. Ron |

You could use a recessed handle, normally used for by pass doors for closets. Then some kind of turn latch to secure the door. I used a normal 1 3/8" hollow core oak door for mine in a standard pocket door frame, using the standard hardware. Works for me. Paul |

If I remember right, Ace used drawer slides mounted lengthwise to the sides of the door.... It sounded like a great idea, since the slides can carry quite a bit of weight, and are less expensive than the conventional door slides (that usually fail due to road vibration). (hopefully, Ace will chime in here?) |

Good memory John! Yes I used extended length drawer slides, one on top and one on the floor.I used a piece of 3/4 inch plywood covered with matching laminate to make the door. To keep the door latched while traveling, I used a simple brass "pin latch"! I still need to install some finger pulls but it has worked great so far without them! If you to the lost links page of this site you can get the web site for picturtes of what I have done. Ace |

We used pocket door hardware attached to the ceiling and a guide on the floor. But we only have a wall on one side of the door. The other side of the door is always visible. We made our panel doors using 5/4 oak for the frames. Jack |
