I am frustrated by accidentally tracking diesel fuel into my coach after filling up at truck stops. Sometimes it's hard to avoid stepping in spilled fuel at most pumps, and since we all want to be courteous to drivers waiting behind us at the pumps, we hop right into the bus and pull forward when finished. Bingo! Smelly diesel is on the stairs and carpet, etc. This nearly made me nauseous once.
I saw one Bus Nut refueling with what looked like fluffy bedroom slippers, but upon closer exmination he was wearing disposeable operating room booties. I haven't a cllue where to find these, and I'm not sure I want the leers from fellow drivers, etc.
Another guy told me he slips into a cheap pair of rubbers to refuel, and that he removes them before climbing back into his coach. Keeps them in a large tupperwear-type box for shoes, with a lid, so the smell doesn't leak out.
What works for you guys?

Slip ons, flip flops, sandals, unlaced sneakers ect. Take em off at door go in bus barefooted, move somewhere else. Something disposable on first step, newspaper? Ziplock bag for flip flops.
The one that really disgusts me is the urine at rest areas. Makes me think of a third world country. I hate to pull in them!

Just a suggestion.

They may look ugly as heck and the idea crazy, and for that matter I have no idea how they interact with diesel, but then again probably better than a cheap pair of flip flops, I'm not sure what does interact well with diesel.

You might try a pair of Crocs.

Someone bought me a pair and I swore I'd never put them on but the truth is they are the most comfortable shoe there is. It's like wearing gel soles all the time.

But that's not the main point. The main point is they slip on and off on the fly, you can beat 'em up, get them dirty, they're virtually indestructable AND you can keep them in a bay, wash or hose them off with soap and water over and over and they dry in 5 minutes.

http://www.crocs.com
They sell them at different sites with free shipping sometimes or with a discount but hey under $30.

Hello Mike
That is why I put tile in the coach. After changing carpet 3 times in the door way and drivers compartment, the tile works great.

We've used those thin floppy throw rugs on the steps into the coach. You can secure them in the back of the steps with those spring loaded curtain rods. Remove them when you get to your destination. Good for use at home. How many times do you go in and out of the coach at home while you are working on something?. Another idea for the main carpet in the coach is to get the roll of carpet protector that looks like saran wrap at Lowes or Home Depot and cover the center isle when at home and doing work. Or you can put the neoprene flooring it your coach like the school busses have. John MC-9 says it works great in his and you can hose it out when the urine stains get too bad.:-)
