Hey everybody, THANKS alot for all the help, it makes something like this much easier to deal with... Anyway, I had the bus (1968 Prevost 8v-71) trailered to a truck repair shop in North Platte, Nebraska. (Mid America Diesel) The problem has not yet been determined, but their Detroit mechanic thinks it may be the fiber drive gear, based on how it worked perfect and then stopped all at once. Of course there is still the possibility that it is the compressor itself. (PLEASE don't let it be the compressor!) According to the mechanic, the compressor is a rare style, mounted flat, not at 45 deg. like he has seen before. In the event he is not able to locate the correct parts, I was hoping someone here would be able to help w/ a parts source that isn't too far away. (North Platte, Nbebraska) I would like to hear back by phone, if possible, as I am a ways away from the bus right now at the county library. If you are aware of a parts source. Please call me on my cell @ 503 842 0155 I am going to post this on both boards, hope nobody minds if I copy & paste this info... just trying to reach any and all possible. Thanks again for all the concern I got from the bus community! Mark |

Hi Guy's, Mark just called me and asked me to update his post now that they know for sure what the problem is. The fiber gear sheered off and the mechanic thinks that there is damage to the compressor and it has been sucking in bad air... The gear is an easy get but, the compressor is not. He gave me the comp #'s and maybe someone knows where he can obtain this comp . He is in Platte Nebraska on I-80, the comp #'s are Type 600, C25-IC Gear driven Horrizonal attatched to a 8V71 If you know where Mark can get one, Please call him ASAP at 503-842-0155 Thanks Nick- |

Mark has parts on the way. Hopefully, they will be the right parts. |
