I got the steering arm nuts off finally. The 125' breaker bar and several assistants did the trick. I'm thinking Godzilla musta torqued those puppies. Now the steering arm aint budging despite my best efforts with a sledge. Is it okay to heat the steering knuckle where the steering arm goes in? How the #$@& are you supposed to get that out? With a press?

Hank, Ya, get a big hammer! Really, place a pry bar between the draglink and the steering arm. Take the biggest hammer you have and while putting downward pressure on the draglink hit the edge of the hole to momentarily egg shape it. The tie rod end will fall right out.

Hank, its to bad you can't wait for a DOT Inspector to come by. I could almost guarantee it would at least be loose and probably fall off while he was just looking at it.

Tie-rod ends, ball joints,etc.... Hold one big hammer
against one side, while you pound with another, on the
opposite side. The vibration will knock it loose in less
time than it took to read this.

Gotta' try it, to love it!

Oh, and make sure you are wearing some kind of eye protection. It does work.

Yeah! Ditto JohnW!

I got so much metal in my eyeballs, I can't reach for a cold beer
without the refrigerator magnets sticking to my head.

I like John's humor! Especially the one the other day about belts: Check the following, 1. There!
Having had the same problem as Hank, and done as much or more beating on the threaded end of the ball joint, as he has, with the same result, or lack thereof, I quit for the day. The next day, while beating on it some more, Leo came by and showed me Larry's method. ONE hit with a 5 lb sledge, and it dropped out. I'm STILL mad, and that was at least 5 years ago!
Good luck,
George
