We have purchased all matching dark bronze fixtures for kitchen and bath, except shower. I didn't think I would find a shower hose and head to match, but I found a low cost really nice Delta unit at HD. My question is: We will be full timing and lots of boon docking. The Delta does not have a flow on/off switch on it as a more typical RV shower head. The shower/tub faucet has three separate valves -- hot, diverter, and cold. I planned to cap off the "tub" outlet of the diverter valve because we have only a shower, and using the diverter valve as a flow on/off valve for the shower head. Anyone see a problem with this or have other ideas? Thanks. |

The diverter valve is basicly an on/off valve, so should be no problem. But just to be safe (because bus's come with gremlins) (if you dont have gremlins then you get Murphy) Jury rig a garden hose and test it. |

I would agree with James. It might require flow to stay in the shower off position. Some diverter valves are difficult to turn off with the water still on. Better to test it now than find out later. I have seen a small ball valve that could be put on the shower outlet just before the shower head. Was chrome and looked like it belonged. Don't know if you could find one to match yours. 1/4 turn on off. Might work too. I think it was at one of the Home Depot type places. Darn CRS. (Message edited by doninwa on July 05, 2007) |

Great ideas Don and James. I'm a freak for testing everything before installation but I didn't think of the hose aspect. And the ball valve -- I can sand and paint it. Thanks. |

Don Evans said "I have seen a small ball valve that could be put on the shower outlet just before the shower head. Was chrome and looked like it belonged. It's a piece of tube about an inch long with a button out one side - push it so that the water flow is off and a "reverse" button pops out the other side. Tiny, simple and it works. __. Also, do you need the diverter? Could you use it (with a suitable valve, which could be hidden away) to recirculate hot water, rather than wasting the water that runs as you wait for hot water to the shower? Chuck - they make SHOWER HEADS with the flow interuptor (for lack of a better word) no need in re-plumbing - just buy a head with the diverter/interuptor built in - HTH |

Navy type shower head....on for wet....off for soap up....on for rinse. Walmart has them. We use one. Great water saver. Diverter valves we have too. One at lav: one at sink. Not cheap, but do their job. Turn on lav for about 30 seconds, shower is ready to go. Turn on sink for about 40 seconds and dishes are ready to wash....all water saved. (we do not drink out of tank water, so no problem) Lotsa fun and lotsa water saved (returns to original tank) FWIW RCB '64 Crown Supercoach |

You might consider using tub outlet as return loop to get water up to temp before starting shower. Thereby saving your boondocking water. |
