In the process of swapping the "good" motor from my 5301 transit to the 4905, my mechanic says the radiator is basically toast. It doesn't leak, but he says about 1/3 of the fins were devoured by salt. The radiator from the 5301 is in good shape, but unfortunately the wrong physical dimensions to fit the 4905.

I know I should take care of it now, while the engine is out, but I need to know what to expect $$$-wise.

Can this be re-cored? Is a new one cheaper than a re-core? Is there a kit I can get and do it myself?(I am not mechanically challenged) Can the radiator be pulled from the outside w/o pulling the fan, etc.?

I appreciate your thoughtful responses.

Call Diesel Radiator Co.
800-221-0240
They have a core for a 4905 and will have a complete radiator also.
