Does anyone know what and how to adjust a ross steering unit. I see where to do the adjustment , but I don't know the proper way to do this.....

Ross steering gear is mighty touchy stuff been a while since I touched that stuff , whats the problem?

It has about 5-7 inches of slack. Makes for a very busy drive.

Make sure that a lot of that play isn't in the other components of the steering system, as that is usually where that much play is found.

It has new tie rods, king pins,center link, steering gear about the only thing left.

does it have a small steering column to steering box driveshaft or does the steering column connect pretty direct to the box?
