It looks like I had an aftermarket O.T.R. a/c system. How would one go about checking the lines up to the front of the coach, if there is no compressor??? The way the lines are taped off, I think the problem was with the compressor. But, because I don't know how long the compressor has been removed, I thought it would be a good idea to at least pressure check them. I think this was the sanden type compressor because of the way the hoses hook up with a bolt threaded in the center. Please advise!!! -- BILL |

We had or factory OTR A/C repaired when we bought our bus used and we had no idea how long the system vacuum was compramised. Moisture is the biggest enemy here. Ours has a large evap. for the bus and a second smaller for the drivers. After replacing both expansion valves rebuilding the compressor and replacing a hose along with freon we thought we were good to go. All the air that was allowed to creep in over time caused the new expansion valves to plug twice more due to dirt and rust before the system began to function correctly. My advice would be when you do check these lines try to THOROUGHLY blow them out with air or some equivalent to get out any undesirables, along with the rest of the system as well. Put a vacuum on those lines to check them. I think that Prevost charged our system with 200+ pounds of nitrogen overnight to test but that was only after we had a complete system again.
