One more question before we head out this weekend.
Any suggestions on a electrical fuel pump for a 7.5/3 cylinder yanmar generator. I want to insall an electrical 12 v. pump but not sure about the psi rating or type.

__. Do you mean a proper pressure-providing fuel pump or just a "lift pump" to assure that there will be enough fuel supplied to the generator? |

Holley and a bunch of other company's make pumps for just that. I wouldnt go over about 5-6 psi. You dont want to force fuel to the injector pump, just "provide" fuel to it. You might also want to install an in line filter before the electric pump to keep big hunks of stuff out.
You are going to make your injector pump live a long healthy life by not making it draw fuel all the way from the tank.

Napa lists fuel pumps with lower pressure that may suit your needs. Just look at the specs in their book. |

I do a lot of work with lift pumps and can not stress enough that you need to know the delivery rate of the original pump or the supply requirements of the IP being supplied. IF the pressure is to low you will loose power or starve the IP is it has an internal pump and possible death of the iP due to cavitation is a possibility. If you exceed the supply pressure you can loose a seal or loose control of the fuel delivery. Call Yanmar and ask what pressure your IP requires. |

I spoke with the dealer/tech. for Yanmar. 4-6 psi not to exceed 10 psi. Another minor issue off the books.
