Hi All, I hope you do not mind me posting this question. I do not have a bus, but while searching the net, I came across this board and thought it might help solve a problem of mine. I own a 5th wheel and bought an Onan NHE, spec M, 6300lp with only 165 hours on eBay for it. I finished installing it and just discovered my problem. It appears the genset is set up for liquid withdrawal and of course, on my 5th wheel, the lp is set up for vapor withdrawal. Anyone have ideas on how I convert the genset to vapor ? I appreciate any ideas you can give me. Thanks, Michael |

It might be easier to find an LP tank that has both liquid and vapor outlets. Richard |

Michael, Check out this link: http://www.cumminsonan.com/cm/support/manuals You can download the operator manual for free, but it looks like they want some bucks for the installation manual. The latter may tell you what you need to know. I'm surprised they made a liquid withdrawal type of that size unit, but on page 2 of the operator manual they infer just that. I recommend you take it to an authorized Onan service facitlity and tell them what you want. |

Hello all, Thanks to all for your suggestions. An update to my dilema. It seems that the conversion kit is about $500 and 2-4 hours of labor ($90 per hour) to convert to vapor. So, in light of this, I started doing more research. It appears that there is what is called a 33.5lb Forklift LP tank that has almost the same dimensions as the 40lb tanks currrently on my 5th wheel. These tanks will provide both vapor and liquid and can be used in the vertical position. New tanks and fittings will run about $200. I will have 2 separate lines , liquid to the genset and vapor to everything else. This does not seem a problem and should work, but thought I would bounce it off of you all to see if anyone has any input on this. Thanks, Michael |

Michael, it may not seem important to you, but the tank will either meet DOT or ASME specs as designed. That will probably make a difference when you mount the tank and vent the tank location. Before you are committed to this purchase, it might be a good idea to see if the type of tank affects your planned use. For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher Ketchikan, Alaska |

If it were me........... I'd swap the genset to take vapor, and use common BBQ sized bottles, rather than the big tank. It's not always easy to find Propane refuel stations, but damned near all 7/11s, convenience stores, and "big box" stores, carry exchange bottles.... No "right or wrong", just what shoe fits...
