I have just spent the day at my Aunt's house. We found out this afternoon that my cousin Jesse Clowers Jr. died in Afghanistan due to an IED. He was in the Special Forces and truly loved the work he was doing for our county. He was just an all-American young man, 27, married 2 ½ years, 2 year old boy and a daughter that was born in May while he was away. He was due back at the end of September. It breaks my heart to know his little girl will never know her fathers touch. My aunt’s only request now is a simple one; all she wants is to see her “baby boy” one last time. She is praying that the bomb didn’t tear him up to where that’s not possible. Jesse was the youngest of three; he has two older sisters, his father died in ’96. I was on vacation this week, going to take the bus to the beach, and it looks like it will be the second trip I will cancel due to a death in the family. Some of you remember me talking about a D.C. trip last June. That got canceled when my niece, 10 years old, died in her sleep. My greatest fear in life is to put one of my own children in the ground. This will be the second time I will see a parent lean over, stroke their child’s hair and give that one last good-by, that one last kiss. I don’t know how parents survive such tragic heartbreaks. My youngest brother grew up with Jesse; they were the same age, best friends. My brother also got married 2 1/2 years ago, has a 2 year old girl and his wife is expecting their second baby at the end of Sept. We found out several weeks ago he is leaving for Afghanistan in February. Until today, this was only something I read about in the paper, or heard on the radio. It has now touched me on a personal level. I never new the devastation it could cause a family. Tomorrow I will wake up and no longer will be one of the millions who go about everyday life oblivious to what it takes to keep us a free people. I pray that God’s justice is swift for those that work evil and His tender mercy comforting for those who are left behind suffering. |

The stories of loss, sacrifice, pain and tragedy are endless... but this nation is indeed blessed to have patriots like your cousin. This is as fine a generation of young people as this nation has ever known. The global struggle we are involved in seems to be of little consequence to most of us in our daily lives until we are touched personally or there is an event like 9/11/2001. This is not meant to be political, but as recognition of the glorious individuals like your cousin that are willing to give their lives for the rest of us. Our focus should be on them and their great and heroic efforts. His widow, son and daughter can take little comfort in their loss, except to know that his motivation was to protect all the rest of us. I wish you and all your family and those who knew Jesse God's peace and tranquillity. I for one am truly grateful for your family's ultimate sacrifice as well. dg |

Life is so fragile and so short. Our prayers are with your family as they grieve this loss. Hopefully he, and you, know the LORD and that he is in a better place. Thanx to your family for his sacrifice for a better life for those in Afghanistan and in our own free countries. God bless you.....Proverbs 3:5 R.C.Bishop |

Laryn So sorry to hear about your cousin Jesse. It seems so senceless that so many of our young men and women die in this manner. We all wait till the day when there is no longer any war and all can live in peace. My heart goes out to you and Jesses's family. God Bless. Bill |
