Guess this is as basic as it gets.... how do you check the water level in the radiator? My Eagle 05 8v71N runs real cool (160ish according to the guages)... butt I've never checked the fluid level! I don't see any sight glass, etc. What appears to be the fill neck is next to the air intake on the driver's side below the emergency signal marker (access door), but it seems to just feed a large tubular manafold that gravity feeds into the engine. Thanks, dg |

I fill mine where you can touch the water because if you fill it level it just overflows |

My 671 has a small petcock just below the overflow level of the filler neck. The book says to fill until coolant flows from this petcock. I also have a '52 GMC 6x6 with gas engine that works the same way. Don't know if 8V71s are the same but would guess they are. (Message edited by gusc on August 16, 2007) |

Doyle, I have the same set up as you, strange enough...my temp on both sides runs about the same until I hit the hills. This past weekend I climed up Hunter Mountain, NY. Never got to 200. Remember, I have two heat gauges so I can compair both sides of the motor temps. Both stay within two degrees of each. Like Luvrbus, I keep a gallon of mix and top off in the same location if needed before each trip. Thank you, |
